Leaders in the sector warn of crisis in adult social care
Leading bodies in the Adult Care sector have today written to George Osborne, warning that vital care services are still at risk, despite the above inflation increase in funding included in the Chancellor’s recent spending review.
The BBC reports that the 2% increase in Council Tax included in the Chancellor’s spending review, for Local Authorities to increase funding for adult social care will not prevent the growing crisis in the sector. The £1.5 billion promised for the Better Care Fund will not come into effect until 2019, leaving Local Authorities struggling to fund these vital care services.
